Terms of Service

Last updated: July 30, 2026

These terms govern your use of Clarifie. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. We've tried to write them in plain English — if anything is unclear, email us at support.clarifie@gmail.com. For how we handle your data specifically, see our Privacy Policy.

Who can use Clarifie

Clarifie is built for college and university students. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, and if you're under 18, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission. By using Clarifie, you confirm the information you give us is accurate and that you'll keep it that way.

Your account

  • You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your password (or Google sign-in) secure.
  • One account per person — don't share your login or create accounts on someone else's behalf.
  • Let us know right away at support.clarifie@gmail.com if you think your account has been compromised.

Acceptable use

Please don't use Clarifie to:

  • Break the law, or violate your school's academic integrity or conduct policies.
  • Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the app, or try to access another user's account or data.
  • Send spam, malware, or abuse the AI features (e.g. prompt injection, automated bulk use, or trying to extract our system prompts).

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you upload or create in Clarifie — your syllabi, notes, classes, deadlines, and study plans. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely to operate and improve the service for you (for example, sending a syllabus to our AI provider to extract deadlines). We don't sell it or use it to train our own models. See our Privacy Policy for the details.

AI features

Clarifie uses AI (Anthropic's Claude) to extract deadlines from syllabi, build study plans, and power the course tutor. AI output can be incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong — it's not a substitute for your actual syllabus, professor, or academic advisor. Always double-check dates and requirements against the official course materials before relying on them, and use your own judgment with anything the tutor tells you.

Subscriptions & billing

Clarifie is currently free to use during early access. We may introduce paid plans or premium features in the future. If we do, we'll clearly show pricing before you're asked to pay, and we won't charge you without your consent. We'll update this section with full billing terms (renewals, cancellation, refunds) before any paid plan launches.

Third-party services

Clarifie relies on other services to work — for example, Google (if you sign in with Google), Anthropic (AI processing), and our hosting and database providers. Your use of those integrations may also be subject to their own terms. We're not responsible for the availability or content of third-party services we don't control.

Intellectual property

Clarifie's name, logo, design, and underlying software are owned by us (or our licensors) and protected by intellectual property law. These terms don't grant you any rights to our branding or code beyond what's needed to use the app normally.

Disclaimers

Clarifie is a planning tool, not an official academic record. We don't guarantee it's error-free, uninterrupted, or that extracted deadlines, calendars, or study plans are complete or accurate — always confirm against your school's official sources (registrar, LMS, professor). The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Clarifie and its team aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including missed deadlines, lost data, or academic outcomes) arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to Clarifie is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or $0 if you're on the free plan).

Termination

You can stop using Clarifie and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice. If your account is terminated, we'll handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Clarifie evolves. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we'll take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use Clarifie after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, unless otherwise required by the law where you live.
